Patricia Apollonia Kotero has been an actress and model in the United States over a long period of time. She was the lead female performer in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. It was among the many female artists who benefited from Prince's association throughout the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. in the latter half of the 1970s, she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the leading lady in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period, she also changed her name.) Then she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 which starred in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. The singer made a bigger impression on the charts when she was Prince's mate in Take Me with You, a duet from the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince after the two fell out over the future of Apollonia 6. She then appeared in a few minor films in the late 1980s (reportedly refusing the opportunity to appear in the follow-up to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon) and then settled on an evening-time part in the film Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988. However, her comparatively tame collection of R&B/dance songs failed to make much impression on those who bought music, and the album soon vanished out of sight. Apollonia continued to act (if somewhat obscure) throughout the following decade. Her small TV roles small films and workout videos kept her busy. Apollonia produced a Spanish/English bilingual album called Stay with Me. After that, she attended school and earned an education in filmmaking. In addition, she founded her own production company.
